FAQ: Does SSRS use poison to control squirrels
No. Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels does not condone the use of poisons to kill squirrels out of doors. The risk of destroying non-target animals and the relatively drawn-out death make the use of poisons risky and inhumane.
Why not use warfarin-based poison?
This is used quite widely in England where reds are not present. It is not licensed for use in Scotland because of the danger of poisoning red squirrels, pine martens and other non-target animals.
